  • Since arriving at OSU in 1999, Kathy has assisted with the state Master Gardener Program and taught labs and classes in ornamental horticulture. 
  • The Ohio State University, Chadwick Arboretum & Learning Gardens 2005-present

Kathy manages the Learning Gardens, which contains the Chadwick Aboretum perennial gardens. Kathy also orders plants for our Spring Plant Sale, manages the tour program,  and organizes the Chadwick Arboretum annual volunteer day-long continuing education program.  Kathy oversees the dedicated group of volunteers and student staff who work diligently throughout the growing season to keep the Learning Gardens as beautiful as possible!

Wendy Bowman has a diverse range of horticultural skills and has worked with an array of equipment as an OSU Groundskeeper.  She has a strong passion for working to blend our natural environment with our human need to cultivate and beautify our landscape. This will prove to be an immense asset in the arboretum.  When Wendy was an undergrad in horticulture she was a Chadwick Arboretum student employee that started off as a volunteer, giving her a strong understanding of the arboretum’s operations.

Professional Experience

Chris is a jack of all trades having worked as:

  • geologist
  • laboratory and computer technician
  • park ranger

Currently as a GIS & Accessions Specialist, Chris manages the woody plants collection at Chadwick Arboretum and is mapping trees on the OSU campus. Chris says, "Chadwick is, hands down, the best place I have ever worked. We do a lot with a little and we have amazing volunteers and staff."

Chris is working toward a PhD in wildlife ecology. She serves as volunteer Editor of the Delaware County Bird Club Newsletter and volunteer Publicity Director for the Ohio Gourd Society.

Professional experience:
  • Designed, planted and maintained rooftop garden at The Crest Gastropub and their team received the Green Spotlight Award from the City of Columbus.
  • Trish was the Director of education at Local Matters and created Growing Matters an educational program teaching children through adults how to grow, cook, and eat their own healthy foods.
  • Involved in planning, implementing and providing education for over 220 gardens throughout central Ohio.
  • Trish created an award winning program for teens that trains and provides jobs through the Godman Guild.
  • Boardmember of the Clintonville Farmers Market.

 

Carrying with her 25 years of gardening and 15 years of community organizing experience. Trish created an award winning community gardening program to train & provide jobs to teens. She is the former Director of Education at Local Matters. Trish helped to create Growing Matters, which is a program dedicated to educating the community about how to grow, harvest, and cook their own food. Having designed everything from container gardens to 1acre food production farms, Trish has been involved in planning, implementing and providing education for over 220 gardens throughout Central Ohio over the years.

Trish designed, installed & maintained the first rooftop food production garden in our city at The Crest Gastropub, collaborated to create a local foods growing & sourcing plan & won the "Green Spotlight Award" from the City of Columbus for this restaurant project.

She continues to utilize asset-based community organizing, mentoring, group planning, garden design, installation & educational workshops, photography & marketing strategies for her new family business, Pollination. She enjoys community gardening, art, photography, music & life with her partner, 4 children, grandchild & friends.
