  1. Honors for our Horticultural Therapy Garden

    Thanks to Master Gardener and Horticultural Therapy Volunteer Linda Johnson, the Chadwick Horticultural Therapy Program has garnered state-wide attention. Linda nominated the program for recognition from the state Master Gardener association and it received two awards at the recent state conference.  In competition with all Ohio counties having 75 or more Master Gardener volunteers, Horticultural Therapy was named the 2014 Environmental Initiative winner and the 2014 State Winner for Outstanding Master Gardener Volunteer Project.

  2. Ash Trees Replaced in Sphinx Honors Grove

    Emerald Ash Borer has caused the demise of the 39 ‘Autumn Applause’ Ash trees that Chadwick Arboretum staff and volunteers planted on a snowy Fall day in 1995 with the Sphinx Senior Honorary students in the site between Chadwick’s Cancer Survivors’ Plaza and the Longaberger Alumni House. The grove, which is planted in an ‘S’ form will be replanted next spring using Nyssa sylvatica (Black Gum). In 2004 the grove was renamed the Dan L. Heinlen Sphinx Grove in honor of the long-time president and CEO of the OSU Alumni Association. Dan wan a member of the Sphinx class of 1960.

  3. Bee Pollinator Project at the Monarch Waystation

    Chadwick provides a Bee Pollinator Demonstration Garden at the Monarch Waystation. Such gardens are replicated throughout Ohio providing feedback on what plants pollinators are using.
