Transforming Our Yards With Susan Weber
The Environmental Professionals Network hosted a breakfast meeting in collaboration with Chadwick Arboretum and the Wild Ones featuring a discussion and examples of how to change the mix of uses in our yards. Grass lawns dominate many landscapes, and provide many benefits. But those spaces could serve a broader range of opportunities, including options to grow healthy vegetables, herbs, fruits, flowers, and trees; provide pollinator and wildlife habitat; nurture outdoor discovery opportunities for kids and adults; and may generate less maintenance, carbon, stormwater, and waste. Susan Weber, Principal with Integrity Sustainable Planning and Design, presented Transforming Our Yards.
Following the presentation, Mary Maloney, Director of Chadwick Arboretum & Learning Gardens led everyone on a brief walking tour of the Chadwick Arboretum and Learning Gardens prairie plant and Monarch/pollinator area.
