National Garden Week

June 3, 2022
National Garden Week

Dear Friends of Chadwick Arboretum & Learning Gardens,

As Ohio State University's public garden and arboretum on main campus, we wanted to take a moment to share some exciting events coming up that feature several other gardens and events across Columbus that we know you will be interested in.

National Garden Week

The Greater Columbus Growing Coalition, in partnership with Franklin Park Conservatory and OSU Extension, are celebrating National Garden Week in the best way possible: with gardens, growing, and goodies. A week of tours, highlighting both community and backyard gardens will kick off this Saturday, June 4th at 9:00 a.m.

You can check the full schedule here

There will also be two associated garden events that are free, open to the public, and perfect for the whole family:

A part of their popular “Community Days”, this event will also be featuring garden activities, giveaways, and tours of the Community Garden Campus.

Come take a wagon tour of Waterman Farms and enjoy a stroll through several special garden plots that are used for teaching, growing food, and conducting research.  This event will also feature a seed and plant giveaway, children’s activities, and food trucks!

Coffee with the Master Gardeners

Chadwick Arboretum is proud to say that Master Gardner Volunteers provide countless hours each year in growing our gardens into what you see today. In fact, we estimate that it took nearly 7,000 volunteer hours to make our recent Spring Plant Sale and Auction Fundraiser the success that it was.

On top of everything that they do,  Master Gardener Volunteers have also put together a series of hands-on workshops to help you grow your own gardens successfully.

Starting on June 25 and lasting through October 1, you can learn how to develop a hummingbird garden, a butterfly garden, create a food forest in your backyard, and more.

You can see the printable brochure with more details here.

If you haven’t been out to Chadwick Arboretum lately, we hope you’ll stop in for a stroll soon. Check out over 250 new cultivars planted in our Cultivar Trials beds, take a meditative walk around the labyrinth, or simply come sit and enjoy your lunch by the Arboretum North pond. We can’t wait to see you here.

Warmly,

The Chadwick Arboretum Team
