Chadwick featured in a Columbus Dispatch article

"Ohio State projects finds there’s money in those maples"

The Chadwick Arboretum and Learning Gardens was featured in an article today by Courtney Hergesheimer from the Columbus Dispatch. The article detailed our extensive "Why Trees Matter" program which gives the incredible trees on campus a 'dollar value' based on several aspects. OSU James Chatfield, and our own Christina Voise were quoted and mentioned in the article. You can view the full story here!

James Chatfield, an OSU extension specialist and contributor to the project, said the goal is simple: “To give people an understanding that economic benefits of trees exist and to help people understand what the value of the community forest is.”

Christina Voise, a specialist at Ohio State’s Chadwick Arboretum, said the program helps bridge the gap between economists and conservationists. “It lets us speak the same language as everyone else — dollars and cents.”
