Learning Opportunities

Come prepared with your gardening questions - the Franklin County Extension Master Gardener Volunteers Ask a Master Gardener Booth will also be present each day. This year, we are also excited to provide three short "Learning Lab" educational demonstrations on Friday and Saturday for customers.  Franklin County Master Gardener Volunteers will teach on:

  • Soil Testing to Improve Your Garden and Lawn
  • Container Gardening
  • Guidelines and Care for Planting a Tree

Our Premium Tree and Shrub Auction each day is a fantastic way to acquire unique cultivars of trees, shrubs, and other perennials for your landscape at a great deal. Simply show up ahead of time to get your auction ticket and begin bidding once the auction begins! Check out the Activity Schedule on each day to find the time for the auction.

Proceeds from the event benefit several local business vendors including: Dannaher Landscaping, Scioto Gardens Native Plant Nursery, Out of the Moon Jewelry, Hinton’s Apiaries, Bevel Sharpening Tool Sharpening Service, Pursuit of Ecological Balance (native plant designs and kits), Horticulture Therapy Volunteers (Hand-decorated pots), and Hypertufa Troughs.

Student Organizations include: Plant Pathology Graduate Student Association (native plants), and Crops and Soils Club (tomatoes and peppers).

Keep an eye out for food trucks and musicians, too!

The Spring Plant Sale Fundraiser is entirely planned and operated by Chadwick Arboretum & Franklin County Master Gardener Volunteers. In 2022, about 1,000 hours were donated to help make our sale a successful fundraiser while providing a great educational opportunity. We are always looking for more help! Sign up to volunteer here:
