Basic Information
It’s lilac season! Join Chadwick Arboretum and Master Gardener Volunteer Mark DeBard during this 1-hour presentation on growing and caring for lilacs in your home garden.

Mark Debard grew up in the Dayton area, practiced emergency medicine for 40 years in which the last 15 years were here in Columbus. He has been retired almost 5 years and has spent all of that time in lilac horticulture as well as becoming a Master Gardener Volunteer.

Mark is on the Board of Directors of the International Lilac Society and is the Registrar for the International Register & Checklist of Cultivar Names in the Genus Syringa and will be publishing a book in March in conjunction with the ILS consisting of the entire Lilac Register of thousands of entries.

Fun fact - Mark also has the largest collection of cultivars in Ohio (exceeding Holden Arboretum) with 150 different cultivars in-ground and 75 more in pots! You won't want to miss this presentation that will be both informative and a treat for the eyes.
