FULL: Tree University: A Hands-On Tree ID Workshop and Walk

 With Kathy Smith

Have you ever found that the more you learn about a subject, the more fascinating it becomes? We think tree identification is one of the most fun and easy ways to step into understanding the natural world around you!

Beyond knowing the differences between a maple and an oak, "knowing how to identify your trees helps with diagnosing insect and disease issues,” said Kathy Smith, Director of Ohio State’s Ohio Woodland Stewards Program. “It also allows a landowner to better manage the tree. How much sunlight does it need to survive and thrive? Is it good for wildlife?”

Jump in with Kathy during this 2-hour immersive experience at Chadwick Arboretum North, which boasts a massive collection of 1000 native trees to Ohio right here in the University District. Participants will start with a 30-minute classroom portion before heading outside to one of the most beautiful (and hidden) places on Ohio State's Campus.

This event takes place meets at the Nationwide and Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center:
2201 Fred Taylor Dr,
Columbus, OH 43210
Eastman Room
