Chadwick Arboretum & Learning Gardens host a variety of university, community, and industry events in our gardens. Many are open to the public while others are reserved for members of specific organizations.  Our calendar of events includes all events, while highlighting those that are open to the public. We hope you will join us for one of these events soon.      


  1. Jun 24, 2025, 11:00am - 11:30am

    Come one come all to learn about the wonderful world of rain gardens! Join ecological engineer Joey Smith for a talk about rain gardens, their mechanics, and visit a newly installed rain garden at Chadwick Arboretum's Lane Avenue Gardens. This Plant Talk will take place after our Lane Ave. volunteer session.  Date: Tuesday, June 24 Time: 11:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Location: Meet in front of the Agricultural Engineering Building 

  2. Jul 3, 2025, 11:00am - 11:30am

    Join Horticulture Manager Lisa Metcalf for the one-year anniversary of installing the new Dr. Steven Still Perennial Garden. This is a wonderul opportunity to learn from the expert on the beautiful and unique perennial garden installed in 2024, and to take a look at the original design. This Plant Talk will take place after the Learning Gardens volunteer session.  Date: Thursday, July 3 Time: 11:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

  3. Jul 11, 2025, 9:00am - 11:00am

    Join Chadwick Arboretum Director, Dr. Laura Deeter, for an educational tree identification walk in celebration of our 45th Anniversary! This walk will be a 2-hour guided tour, meandering through the arboretum. Click here to register! *Registration is limited to 20 people and sign-up will close once it is full.

    OSU Cultivar Trials Showcase Our Cultivar Trials Garden offers the opportunity to evaluate the performance of ornamental cultivars in typical Central-Ohio conditions. Don’t miss this brilliant showcase of this season's cultivars on display while mingling with other Green Industry professionals from the Cultivate'25 conference. Enjoy light refreshments while you explore our gardens at their peak of the summer season! This event is free and open to the public.

    Mark your calendars! More information coming soon. Have you ever visited Arboretum North, Chadwick Arboretum’s largest garden site? Join us for a family-friendly Open House exploring this hidden gem on campus that includes a lake, picnic area, 1000 native trees, a “net zero” tiny house, and more.
