Our volunteers make it happen--from planting gardens to stuffing envelopes to organizing our annual plant sale, they are key players in our programs and operations. Here are just a few of the volunteer opportunities at Chadwick Arboretum & Learning Gardens:
Annual Trials - transplant and propagate annuals; install plants; provide garden maintenance; record vigor observations; label and water plants; and guide tour groups.
Willow Collection - transplant and propagate plants from the collections; document seasonal sexual expression; label plants; create artistic sculptures from willows. This volunteer experience is very diverse.
Lane Avenue Gardens - maintain woody and herbaceous collections of our original 14 acres under the supervision of a horticulturist; labeling plants is also an important volunteer role in these gardens.
Learning Gardens - assist with all aspects of maintenance in the gardens which includes an exciting mix of perennial, annual, native, and tropical plants.
Horticultural Therapy - teach basic horticulture skills and share your love for plants with the Adults with Developmental Disabilities (ADD) working group.
Evening Volunteer Session - The tasks vary each week, working in the arboretum where needed--ranging from the trial gardens to the 1000 trees site.
Plant Sale - Our major fundraiser, this annual plant sale is organized and run by our volunteers. Consider serving on a committee, providing pre-sale support, or volunteering during the sale.
Tour Guides - learn about our collections and garden features and provide tours to the public. Tours are crucial to promoting our collections and programs. Tour guide training is provided.
Administrative - lend a hand in our daily operations by contributing your expertise to data entry, marketing and events promotion.
