Don’t miss the summer-blooming prairie flowers including coneflowers, milkweed, asters, prairie dock and other various grasses native to our region’s tall grass prairies. Originally a research project, the garden demonstrates a colorful low maintenance alternative to turf and a wonderful haven for butterflies, birds and other wildlife. While the garden blooms peak in the summer months, the remaining seed heads provide valuable winter food for local wildlife as well as structural interest, especially when covered with snow.
