Students often take respite on the bench overlooking this garden grove and lakeside plaza. It’s no wonder. The patio was designed and installed by their counterparts – students from the horticulture department-- with guidance from their instructors. The grove’s trees and shrubs, selected for their brilliant red fall colors, welcome students in the scarlet and gray style as they attend classes nearby or cheer on teams across the street at the acclaimed basketball arena, track facility and baseball stadium. Dedicated on Arbor Day in April 2001, the grove honors alumnae Robert Stamm Jones (’24) and Louise Burnham Jones (’27).
